3 Reasons Why You Might be Stuck in Your Life
Again while listening to Les Brown 16 times I came across more pearls of wisdom – 3 reasons why you might be stuck in your life. I know because I have been that stuck person. I’ve found myself stuck in Wealthy Affiliate. Doing the doggy paddle to keep my head above the water. Doing just enough to keep me interested in helping others out.
I have a little knowledge gleaned from a dozen years of creating blogs and building websites without really having the know-how to really monetize those offerings. And some of it was feeling that I didn’t want to dirty the waters of the content I was putting out there with potentially crass advertising.
I know I have some stuff to put out there but I wasn’t sure how it would all work.

1. You don’t know what you have going for you
When I look at the words “You don’t know what you have going for you”, I feel the weight of the time I’ve spent procrastinating, the time I’ve wasted walking down a bit of a trail only to find it peter out and I return to where the track first forked – to that place with which I am familiar. The place where I feel safe, the comfort zone where I can put in just enough effort to satisfy the place in me that says, “It’s ok you’re still hanging there.
I do know I have accumulated knowledge over the years and yet what I have learned along the way seems so broad that it feels that I can’t sharply focus on a specific niche.
So if you feel as if you’re in a similar boat and you don’t know what you might have going for you, start looking at the things that you feel have become second nature. Hobbies or interests that you’ve been doing for so long that they seem just ordinary.
A great starting point that I revisit from time to time is the VIA Strengths Test. By doing the free survey you get a snapshot of your 24 character strengths. To get a more in-depth report there is a fee.
The #1 character strength that I came back with was my Love of Learning. When I’m having doubts I go back to this and wonder how it fits into all of this. We only truly learn something when we teach it.
What has come into focus for me today is doing the Wealthy Affiliate Bootcamp where we are learning how to create a business through referrals to the WA opportunity. And actually, I had been resistant to doing it. I now realize that a lot of the learning I have assimilated over the years may be perfect to share along with the opportunity. And showing you why you might be stuck could be a threshold to change.
2. You don’t know how to make money with your gift
The second reason you might be stuck is you don’t know how to make money with your gift.
When you find what you have going for you, you’ll begin to have an inkling of what your gift might be. Your gift will be closely aligned with your values. Going through your strengths test will give you a head start with discovering your gift.
Another great tool for this is by finding out what your business identity is on the Tony Robbins site. This will give you some insight into your preferred mode of being when you begin to seek ideas on how to make money with your gift. Incidentally in doing that short quiz I discovered I have a preference for being a manager. When I looked at the options I thought I might be an artist. Life’s full of surprises.
When you discover this identity, marry it with your strengths, and find a niche you are super passionate about, you create a strong launching pad for your idea. When you have this you’ll need to find a vehicle to make money with your gift.
3. You don’t know how to approach those people who’ll pay you for your specific knowledge
Reason number 3 you might be stuck is, you don’t know how to approach those people who’ll pay you for your specific knowledge.
Les Brown would say marketing is about telling your story. Perhaps that is where I have fallen down. Maybe I haven’t put enough of me out there for people to make a decision about whether they can trust me or not because people do business, make purchases, sign contracts with people they can trust.
The internet can make it that much harder to establish trust especially as an affiliate marketer as your potential customers can’t base their experience of you on a physical level. They need to get a feeling for you from a lot of words on a page. They get a feeling of trust from the authenticity you create in your content, your reviews, case studies, interviews, and your personal knowledge within your niche.
The more you focus your niche in the beginning the more buy-in you can get from potential customers as they will be searching for something relevant to their interests, their hobbies, items or gadgets that will make their lives run more efficiently, and perhaps something that they didn’t even know they needed.
Customers want to know who I am. They want to know what I have and they definitely want to know why they should care. If you can create that sense of having them care then you have created a customer. Possibly for life.
